For GM / General Motors. The pinion bearing on the Getrag 626 axle must be removed from the pinion in order to select the required shims for the pinion cartridge and side bearings. DT-48005 is tightened around the bearing, and placed onto a hydraulic press bed. The press and J-42162 are then used to push the pinion out of the bearing. If the bearing is damaged, the entire pinion partridge housing, both bearings and cups, and selective spacer must all be replaced, since they are a matched set. Failure to use DT-48005 will result in bearing damage, and unnecessary repair expense.
